Clinical Supervision
Supervising advanced students, recent graduates or those experienced in the field has always been a rewarding practice. As a clinical supervisor, my goal is to work with you collaboratively to offer a varied perspective based on my experience in the field and to help further expand your knowledge and clinical skills.
Supervision can be used for either clinical development or to support growth and comfort in the field as a clinician.
Similar to career counseling, we would work together to focus on your current position, future goals, and aspirations. Together, we would work to filter out all the fears and concerns that may be impacting your motivation to move forward. It can be as simple as feeling stuck in your current role, or perhaps you are lacking direction and need a push to get to the next level. Whatever the issue is, we can work together to try to untangle whatever is holding you back from achieving your goals.
Supervision can also be used to get help untangling a difficult problem with a client, and sometimes people seek longer term supervision during which cases are discussed as a way of sharpening clinical skills. In addition, as a licensed clinical social worker, your supervisory hours can typically be used to accrue the necessary hours to be certified in your field. However, you would have to check with the NYS Office of Professions and your employer to ensure you meet their required guidelines.
